What happens after our roundtables?

Select politicians, community influencers, and activists spring into immediate action to take the solutions to the next step: to Parliament and/or local policy makers. So far, all organizations present at our events have also gotten immediate support from participating celebrities, and PLeace Awaken has integrated many of the solutions into our own pilot projects launched in collaboration with the participating luminaries and celebrities.

South Africa 2019

Our 2019 roundtable focused on the violence in South Africa. We gained a deep insight on the operations of vehicle crime, the ripple effect of a stolen or high jacked car, rhino poaching and organized crime syndicates, attacks on South African farmers, the harrowing numbers and effects of gender-violence and the contributing factors of drugs and political corruption; all gravely affecting families, communities and the country. Our panel of luminaries outlined the steps of collaboration between foundations, government and businesses.  With high-profile celebrities tagging on social media, all participants standing up to ask how they could help, and with leading representatives as part of the panel, our roundtable reached the highest ranks of government.

Covid-19

During the early days of the first Covid lockdown we assisted in breaking down the plundering of the South African Covid Fund as one of our charities was approached by a government official via voice mail, which we got straight to the governing authority. The next day the presidency stepped in to announce the measures to break down and stop the corruption and plundering. During the Covid-outbreak we also helped to organize and distribute food and care parcels to underprivileged communities and women shelters.

PLeace Golf World 2020

In July 2020 we were in action again during the extended Covid-lockdown. As we had to rearrange our events, we brought the celebrities back out to the golf course, live from dozens of different golf courses around the world. We launched our new golf scoring app and provided a cyber-alternative for Covid times to allow a full tournament accommodating physical distancing and travel restrictions, while raising awareness on the flaws of our society brought to light by the pandemic. With everybody at their home course, the celebrities sent encouraging messages to their fans and supporters from the "the green carpet," we again created a powerful voice for equality and human rights and were even featured on ESPN Radio.

PLeace G.O.L.F Ladies ! PLeace G.O.L.F. World !

Gender violence in South Africa produced 42,289 reported rapes in 2019/2020, a harrowing portion being minors and children. Femicides happened on average every 4 hours. During lockdown there were about 3,000 emergency calls a day for domestic violence. In September and October 2020 we brought new celebrities out to the course in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, to play or learn golf for our future events and raise awareness about the global rise of gender based and mental health related violence, which we streamed and broadcast in November/December for the 16 Days Of Activism For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women.

South Africa 2021 Riots

During the Johannesburg and Durban riots in July 2021 we organized medication deliveries in devastated areas and helped in the cleanup efforts in Johannesburg. We also helped coordinate relief efforts and fundraisers with a new help app.

Roundtable 2021

Our 2021 roundtable focused on the various COVID-19 lockdowns, the resulting mental health challenges, the effect on interpersonal and intimate relationships and the rise of GBV. Our panel of luminaries, including a member of the Ndlovu Youth Choir, MMC of Security for Johannesburg David Tembe, the late actor Patrick Shai and former public protector Prof. Thuli Madonsela, presented working solutions. With celebrities like Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Miss Lira, Joey Rasdien, Dingaan Khumalo, Akona Ndugane and golf legend Chris Williams, we again made a big impact, gaining some new influential ambassadors to further the cause against GBV.

Ukraine/Prayer Meeting

In February 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine we instantly hooked up with the Ukrainian Golf Federation who used their high-class connections to get families, students and cancer-ill children out of the country. On the 24th of March, we made an international shout out to come together for a worldwide inter-faith prayer meeting. Again featured on ESPN and several other podcasts, we had a reach of several thousands. We prayed, from and to the world, and asked for peace and healing in the Ukraine. For peace on earth. we got the desired support, from government officials and organizations and the next day, the troops pulled out of Kyiv. Was it due to us? Who knows, but ... it's those thoughts that keep us going.

We didn't inherit this earth from our parents:
We borrowed it from our children.
