is an American actor best known for his roles on the series “A Nero Wolfe Mystery,” the hit series “The Practice” and “Without a Trace”. His first prominent TV series role was in the 1980’s series “Crime Story”. He went on to star in the hit drama series “Life Goes On”. Bill was the lead guest star in the pilot film of the 1980’s crime drama hit series “Miami Vice.” He also guest starred in the final episode of “NYPD Blue” and starred in “The Henry Lee Project” with Danny Glover, and in “Millennium”. In 2010 he starred in the NBC series “The Event”. Bill also played a number of military roles in “Independence Day,” “Air Force One,” “Thirteen Days,” “Fail Safe,” “Eagle Eye” and others. He has made many guest appearances on shows like “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “24,” “Numb3rs,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Criminal Minds,” “Castle,” and the “Dynasty” reboot. On film, his roles include the Stephen King’s “Silver Bullet,” “Renegades,” “The Trigger Effect,” “Gridiron Gang” and “Iron Man.” He also played the role of Mr. Zimburger in the Johnny Depp film “The Rum Diary” and appeared as the head of the CIA, Hanley, in Pierce Brosnan's movie “The November Man.” Bill and his wife reside in Los Angeles.
